Suriawati & Azrul Azwan ~ Are Officially Engaged

"Brief is life but love is long."
~ Alfred Lord Tennyson

I'm not so sure exactly when was their engagement date but Suriawati requested for the hantaran cupcakes & fancy cookies on 13th of April 2011.

She ordered 16pcs of chocolate moist cupcakes with fondant deco of maroon themed but you wouldn't see the 'marooness' on the pics here due to camera's flash (excuses duh..) hehehe.. I just noticed that the cupcakes look more red than maroon while uploading the pics really.. My apology for that.

She had also ordered fancy chocolate butter cookies as door gifts, all in the same themed colors; maroon & white. Thank you so much dear Suriawati, we pray for your happiness with your 'betrothed'. Hehehe.. I miss my literary world.

It's the 1st day of Ramadhan & it's going to be a very trying one as the weather is very hot lately. The air-cond has been doing its round for hours now and so does the oven.. The electricity bill will surely shoot up but hey, at least we are lucky enough to be 'bestowed' with such necessities.

To all our Muslim friends, we would like to wish a Happy Ramadhan al-Mubarak. May we be strong to endure the hot scorching weather while fasting, all in the name of our religion. Amiinnn.... By the way, any good Ramadhan bazaar that you can suggest?? hehehe..

Happy Birthday Mar, Syznn, Piks & Zaty ~ from Zymah

13th of April 2011 ~ Zymah a returning customer, ordered this chocolate moist cake topped with chocolate ganache for a combined birthday party I guess. She requested for the cake to be delivered to Suria. Thank you so much dear, hope you all had a great time.

I'm officially on a 3-month unpaid leave and it feels good. Alhamdulillah, it's time for me to focus on my family & the things I love to do. It's a difficult decision to make, that I would have to admit, but circumstances prevailed. Maybe Allah is trying to 'tell' me something. I need a break. Things were getting out of hand and as the saying goes;

"Our greatest glory consists not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall."
- Oliver Goldsmith -

Hahahaha! You know me, I won't give up that easily. Every cloud has a silver lining. I'm up to something BIG.. hihihihi.. Wait & see people! I'll be back with a BANG! Wish me luck :-)

I'll leave you with the clue above.. hehehehe.. cheerio

Happy Birthday Mom ~ Love; Jiza

10th April, 2011 ~ It was a choice of our delectable Carrot Walnut cake with cream cheese topping and layered with chocolate ganache filling for Jiza's beloved mom's birthday.. heaven! Jiza requested for fondant deco with blood red flowers.. whoaaa.. a bold choice for a gutsy mummy I guess.. hehehe..

Isk.. isk.. this kinda reminds me of my loving mom, the most patient woman I've ever met, who never sighs nor did she ever complain, a fighter who doesn't give up easily, respectable.. and the list of positive adjectives goes on. She has such a positive vibe that whenever I'm at my worst physical & mental states, the mere sight of her washes everything away. I'll be at ease. I'm pretty sure most mommies are of the same characters but one's mom is one's best. Agree?? Hehehe.. gosh I miss her so much.

We're all tested recently. Dad was diagnosed with multiple level of osteophytes formation on his nerve roots which has resulted in partial paralysis on his left side of the body and face. There were times when we; me & my sis, almost gave up with dad's temper tantrum. We wholeheartedly understood how helpless he felt being a workaholic, but no medicine could cure you in ONE day. So out of pain, or maybe desperation he kept on yelling at everyone around him, especially mom. But mommy.. our mommy, she never once raised her voice in response. We're so worried that continuous sleep deprivation would lead to her bp going up again.. Mommy has always been strong.

Hmm.. I just miss my mom... Thank you so much Jiza, & hope your mom was happy with the cake. XOXO! Mak, I'm coming home, gonna spend a blissful three full months with you. Yeay!

Happy Birthday Farahain Amira & Eryna Batrisyah

8th April 2011 ~ Azah of UMS is one of our regulars at Simply Chantique CupCakery. I really appreciate how she supported us a lot when we first started our small business almost two years ago.. and yes like most of our customers, we became friends. That's the best part in doing this. Not only I'm enjoying what I'm doing, I get to make new friends as well!

This time around Azah gave me the honor to do the birthday cake as well as fancy cookies as party favors for her two adorable daughters combined birthday party; Ain; 7 & Eryn; 1yr old. She ordered a 2-kilo Carrot Walnut cake with a twist; blueberry filling and I would have to say, it worked! She also ordered 40 pieces of chocolate butter cookies covered in royal icing as giveaways, complete with the ribbons of her choices & thank you tags as well.

Something 'big' happened at my workplace today. Something very frustrating. All this while, I'd been ignoring the feelings of under-appreciated, the office politics, the endless gossiping all because I love educating. I keep on telling myself never to inflict the frustration on my beloved students no matter how irritating they can be at times hehehe.. I also keep on reminding myself, I have some really.. really good friends at work, whom I enjoy working & laughing with and very sincere, helpful who never ask for anything in return.

In the light of recent happenings, my dad's deteriorating health, unsupportive employer, we have discussed thoroughly that it's about time for me to set my priority right. All this while, I didn't think twice for committing to my career only to be let down at times when I needed 'their' support and understanding the most. Well, I learned my lesson well, nothing beats the support from your love ones. So, this is yet another big decision I'm about to make in my life, wish me all the best! May Allah be with me & my family.

Azah, thank you so much for the order and Happy Birthday to dear Ain & Eryn! May you two grow up to be respectable characters who bring love & joy to all the people around you. XOXO!

To end my entry I would like to share with you this simple inspirational story, somehow it brought me to tears. Enjoy!

The Donkey's Lesson
One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do.Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey.

He invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well.

At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement he quieted down.

A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well. He was astonished at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up.

As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!

Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a steppingstone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up.

Remember the five simple rules to be happy:
Free your heart from hatred - Forgive.
Free your mind from worries - Most never happen.
Live simply and appreciate what you have.
Give more.
Expect less!

Happy Birthday Mazila ~ from Noor Azlina

7th April 2011 ~ I would like to begin this particular entry by sincerely apologizing to Noor Azlina for not being able to recall just from where she placed her order from and to where exactly we delivered this particular order of hers. Hehehehe.. ladies & gentlemen, that's the fruit of procrastination. Stay away from it!

Azlina ordered a set of 36 pieces of S-sized vanilla cupcakes with buttercream frosting & deco. She sent me a sample of the deco that she had in mind but she specifically requested for the 'face' & 'heart' shapes. She had also asked me to add my own creativity. I'm very lucky I must say that most of my customers preferred to leave it to my own interpretation of the theme they gave.

Hmm.. me and my husband, we were flipping through our photos from our recent Beijing trip. I was telling him in between that a friend had just got back from a vacation in Greece. He then gave me this look which I could confidently interpret as; "So when are we going there?" Hihihi.. I immediately asked for the itinerary from my friend. InsyaAllah.. Thank you so much Noor Azlina!

Happy 12th Birthday Bibiana

2nd of April, 2011 ~ It was a 2-kg of our delectable Carrot Walnut cake with fresh cream topping for lovely Bibiana's 12th birthday ordered by Elizabeth Lai of Penampang clinic staff quarters. She made the order through my baby sister Sophie aka my marketing manager hahahaha! She's very good in promoting our products. Luv ya sis!

This entry will focus on the importance of English in our daily lives. I keep on telling my students, language of any kinds for that matter, liberates you! Pretending that you are highly proficient in any particular language enough to interpret the literal and technical meanings hidden between the lines, will not bring you any good. I repeat; WILL NOT bring you any good.

Right, what's with the somewhat 'boring' topic sentence above? Well, something boring happened recently. My 'english-entry' was misunderstood by an attention seeker who lives her life seeking enjoyment in finding faults and unnecessary arguments with people around her. Even family members were not spared, her own mother, siblings, mother-in-law, sis-in-law, husband etcetera. You name it, you got it. BORING! I'm her latest 'rage' hahahaha!

Okay long story short; this person's English proficiency sucks! Yet, she had 'miraculously' interpreted one of my entries as specifically offending her. Err.. what's your name again?? Duh.. seriously, are you that IMPORTANT to me? Well as expected she went on a rampage, attacking me verbally & "Facebookily" hehehe.. yawnnn! .. We forgive those who responded to her post, they knew nothing of her true color. Deep down inside, I'm sure they were all aware why she 'attacked' me out of no where. I'm a COMPETITION.. hahaha! You're on lady.

Me and my sis, we were brought up in a happy close-knit family, who values education & good manners. Mummy said, don't feed the boring lady's ego with the attention she's craving. Don't say a word and God will reveal all. InsyaAllah.. the truth will prevail. In the meantime, hey 'you', just in case you are reading & copying this & translating it via google translator, GET YOURSELF A GOOD DICTIONARY & AN ENGLISH TUTOR! Better yet; GET A LIFE! Hehehehe.. "Berani kerana Benar, Takut kerana Salah". Translate this to English. Good luck!

Happy Birthday Daddy! ~ Love; Elaine Mah

31st of March 2011 ~ Yes, it was nearly four months ago when we received this particular order from Elaine of Melbourne, Australia. Obviously she was away and she couldn't be with her dad, Mr. William Mah, to celebrate his birthday.

So, off my husband went to deliver the Lemon Butter Cake with buttercream topping. He contacted Elaine's mom, who happened to be working on that day, and she asked my husband to deliver to the house as daddy would be there.

Husband went to the house, and daddy wasn't home. He's out for lunch.. hehehe.. So husband had to deliver the cake to Elaine's mom instead at the hospital. Well, not everything will go as planned but at least we tried our best. Thank you so much Elaine for trusting us.

It's been quite a long 'absence' for us here at Simply Chantique CupCakery. Daddy has not been well. We are truly sorry for turning down several orders during that very trying period of time. We had no choice.. we truly hope that you would understand. Please pray for my daddy's well being.. I miss his stories, I miss his chatters and out-of-the-blue MMSes of 'happenings' at the farm. I'm looking forward to his 62nd birthday come November. Aminnn...

Happy 26th Birthday Bobby ~ Love Thressie

"... Better than I was, more than I am
And all of this happened by taking your hand
And who I am now is who I wanted to be
And now that we're together,
I'm stronger than ever
I'm happy and free.. "

That's just a few lines from one of our fave love songs; "It's Your Love" by Tim McGraw. It's been raining here in KK for the past few days.. by now those of you who have been following my blog should know; MELANCHOLIC mode on please.. hehehe..

I love it when it rains! Ideas are pouring in when almost everyone else prefers to sleep hihihi.. I've been telling my husband that I could actually 'smell' the rain coming and he always laughs at it. Well not that frequent anymore in our third year of marriage especially when the laundry is still hanging outside. It will really.. in a matter of time right after I've smelt it coming. A 'gift' from my late grandmother who could 'sense' more than that.. I miss her so much.. Al-Fatihah.

This particular order came from an ex-student of mine, Thressie for her boyfriend's 26th birthday, who happens to be an ex-student of mine as well. Love blossoms over time.. hehehe.. when it hits you right between the heart, then there's no turning back. Anyway, Thress ordered a kilo of chocolate blueberry cake topped with our delectable chocolate ganache. She requested for 'polka dots' for the deco so polka dots it was for the cake!

It's nice to still be in-touched with most of my ex-students. Thress actually ordered a 3-tier wedding cake for her sis' wedding, will have an entry on that insyaAllah. Please pray that it'll rain more hehehehe.. Thanks a bunch dear Thress & Bobby. I'll pray for your happiness and don't forget to order your wedding cake from me earlier ya.. Cheerio!
