Mua Red Velvet for Raieza...

31 January 2012 ~ All the way to Cyber City Apartment my RV went.. to the waiting hands of Raieza Hanim. Nice name kan? Kan? Kan??

Hehehe... am in the mood for poetry now but before I bore you with that let me concentrate on my appreciation for Raieza dulu ya.. sabar...

She had ordered a set of 25pcs of RV cupcakes frosted in cream cheese with choc paste filling. Did I hear 'Yummy!" in the background??? Indeed... Thank you so much dear. Hope you enjoyed them as much as I did making them.

Okay okay now let's get back to my poetic mood. I got an A+ you see in my 1st semester doing poetry. I can still remember our very young lecturer from the UK, Mr. Tim Marshall's the name. When he first entered our class.. I could still remember how all the girls went quiet in adoration hihihihi... He's such a sweet handsome chap!

...and when he recited poems.. we all went "ooohhhh...." and "aaahhhhh...." not sure of the type & gist of the poem but it didn't matter. We really looked forward to his class and the 'invisible discrete' competition to woo him started ngeh ngeh ngeh.. some of the boys joined in as well! Don't get me wrong just yet ya... wooing him in terms of doing good in class that is.

I remember our major assignment for that semester was to come up with 10 pieces of originally written poems in 10 different types. I can only recall Haiku, Iambic Pentameter, Sonnet, Ballad, Prose, Ode, Monologue and.. Ya Rabbi.. Mr. Tim wouldn't be so proud if he reads this hihihihi.. cut me some slack people it was way back in 1994 for poetry's sake!

So 10 poems I wrote.. typed actually with my humble electric typewriter.. yeah yeah.. no body had lappy back then. Mobile phone?? Never heard of. Life was much cheaper & easier when it comes to techno thingies. You youngsters are so lucky nowadays! I can hardly catch up with what's in & deemed as latest. It's a nasty competition on who has the latest & most expensive.

Those were the days... with beloved Mr. Tim. Can you guess which one is me?? Hihihi....

Mr. Tim gave me an A+. Yeayyy!! So in the spirit of reminiscing the past.. I am sharing with you my dear readers, the one & only surviving group photo that I have with all my classmates during matric, who, alhamdulillah are still very much in touch, with our beloved Mr Tim Marshall. Oww sir.. where art thou???

Happy 22nd Birthday Effy!

31st of January 2012 ~ Yet another order from one of our regular customers, one gorgeous mummy; Shana of TM Net, Sabah.

This time, it was a choice of the super moist Red Velvet with cream cheese frosting.. yummy! I actually saw Anna Olsen's version on tv just now & she prefers to use white vinegar whereby I swear by apple cider instead. Well.. being an amateur I guess will need to have a bake-off day to put each recipe to test right??

Anyway the cake that Shana ordered was for one; Effy's 22nd birthday. Shana had chosen an edible image of Spongebob. Errr... Effy's 22 right?? She must had had good reason for it I'm sure hehehehe....

We, at Simply Chantique CupCakery would like to wish Effy a very very very belated birthday to Effy! Thank you so much yet again Shana. Stay gorgeous!!

Oh ya, I would also like to take this opportunity to wish Happy Birthday as well to my adorable munchkin; Nur Izz Dania. She's 1! Yeay!! How time flies.. it feels as though it was only yesterday that I saw her red cheeks, wet hair, sleepy eyes.. freshly out from mummy's 'oven'.

May you grow up to be a formidable character, one who loves and be loved by many in return. I love you my bucukkkk!!!

Happy 28th Birthday Azim ~ with love; Asyikin.

29 January 2012 ~ It's really fun when you get to play cupid for lovers. As in the case of Asyikin & the love of her life; Azim, we were commissioned by Asyikin to do Azim's 28th birthday cake.

It was a choice of chocolate moist cake with ganache topping. This was then topped with an edible image of the lovebirds plus Azim's fave football team; Liverpool.

Thank you so much dear Asyikin & may you two be in love forever, in sickness & in health, in good times & in bad.. insyaAllah.

We are about to start with the new semester. With that comes new syllabus. So we'll be having workshops on new module & everything that comes with it. So I'll be topping up on my Enrich points..
Blindfolded & looking so hawwwttttt ~ outdoor activity during the recent PBL course

So we are expected to implement PBL in our lessons, you know... that Problem Based Learning thingy. So basically, instead of the conventional exam-based syllabus, students  will be groomed with all the possible problem solving skills to prepare them for the outside world. It'll be an experimental journey & hopefully everything will go as planned insyaAllah.
 ...and fun we had indeed!
Am looking forward to it actually but suffice to say, all parties need to be involved & supportive especially the management. I remember how fun it was in school back in the 80s. We had English lessons outdoor & it proved to be very fruitful.

 English teachers at it y'all!!
Our pledges... solemnly written

It's about time to bring fun & joy back into the classrooms. Stop being too rigid. We don't want to produce exam savvy students who will be lacking in all the necessary survival skills when they reach the job market. With PBL, the written results may not be as exceptional but hopefully, insyaAllah with all good intentions, we'll produce more quality graduates who will eventually be more practically functional & will not panic should something does not go by the book hehehehe... Amin...

Happy 4th Birthday Shahmir!

28 Jan 2012 ~ Salam Maal Hijrah 1434H to all my Muslim friends & readers. Looking back at the year that had passed, what have we achieved so far? I just couldn't help it but to cry during the solat hajat berjemaah that was held at one of the mosques in conjunction with the Islamic new year.

I reminisced on my life.. sigh.. I could have done more. But my tears went mostly to the thought of my fellow brothers & sisters in Gaza, Palestine... Ya Allah Ya Rabb, the Most Merciful & Compassionate, please protect them & give them the strength. Reward them deservingly for they are the protectors of our religion. Amin...

InsyaAllah...

Okay now, this particular entry is dedicated especially for one of our regulars as well, Mas Emezah of Penampang. This time around she had ordered a kilo of chocolate blueberry cake with fresh cream frosting.

This was then topped with an edited edible image of the birthday boy; Shahmir. Thank you so much Mas & Happy Belated 4th Birthday dear Shahmir.

To the rest of you.. we may not be able to do much but please... let us pray..

Miss Whatever! ~ i AM dealing with it. Are YOU??

What daaa?? Hehehe... no no no, DON'T jump to any conclusion just yet. It's funny how differently people can treat you upon knowing the 'changes' in you. Some are cool about it, some just jumped out of their skins, so much so they forgot to whose skin they should jump back into. Over giteewww.... hehehe...

I am okay.. insyaAllah. Alhamdulillah I am dealing with my new "self' surprisingly very well. Amidst the chaos of my dad's recurring tumor, never ending meetings, workshops, conferences.. I am.. alhamdulillah, still very much sane. So please, I don't need any over-reactions from anyone. I just need to move on with my life & I look forward to this very much.

By the way, I'm watching this live telecast of Datuk LCW & his lucky bride, Wong Mew Choo's wedding at PICC. Sweeeeettttttt!! They've been in a relationship for 11yrs before they finally decided to tie the knot. Now that's commitment! They deserve this reception in all its grandeur..
 The ever dreaded "Bloom Taxonomy"
PBL in action ~ Lake Gardens

Just came back from this PBL (Project Based Learning) course, which we, the Custodians of English Language, fondly prefer to call 'Problem' Based Learning instead. I don't know about you but I mix work with pleasure well. I love what I'm doing so much. I had the privilege to be one of the presenters and there was never a dull quiet moment when it comes to a room full of English teachers. Never mind the unforgiving Bloom Taxonomy. We had tonnes of fun!

The Custodians ~ I adore...

Every time we're all called for a conference or a course like this, it kinda serves as a mini reunion where all can let our hair down, catch up on things, be merry & work at the same time.. and it didn't come as a surprise when all of my custodian friends have been very receptive & supportive of me regardless. Did I just type ALL?? Yes. ALL of them. Alhamdulillah. When you are happy, you tend to be less judgmental, kan??

How would you feel when somebody says 'whateverrrrrrrrrr' (with the keriting end hokey!) to you? Well it depends right, on who's saying it and in what manner & intonation as well as intention. It can be irritating, it can also evoke so much love.. hehehe... When your loved one suddenly says "whatever!' out of the blue, don't get annoyed just yet. Look up. As in my case, there, glaringly gleaming in shocking pink, a sign board which reads "Miss Whatever", too seductive to be ignored and we ended up having a lengthy discussion on what lies behind the choice of that particular name. The conclusion? ~ WHATEVER!! ...and we fell in love all over again hehehe.... With that I rest my case. For now at least. Have a pleasant rainy holidaysss...

The Engagement ~ Shilla & Nasri

28 January 2012 ~ Assalamualaikum! It's been a while, and.. I miss all of you so much! So very much...

Thanks for the kind concern dearies. Alhamdulillah, I'm doing good. Things are a tad too crazy here but nothing that I can't handle so far. Been living on a jet-plane. My kepala feels so kembang like a helmet.. plus the berat as well. Hehehe.. seronok jugak sekali sekala merosakkan bahasa ni.
I never thought that my life would suddenly be in the literary limelight. I have achieved something.. some 'things' to be precised that I never thought I would. It kinda freaked me out in the beginning.. but as someone special told me.. I deserved it so bask in the moment. Alhamdulillah.. will update you on that when the right time comes hokey?? Hehehe...

Okay let's get back to business. YES! Regardless and despite all the chaos, YES! Simply Chantique CupCakery is still very much in business but.. hehehehe... you'll need to inquire for the available dates. As I have no choice but to be very exclusively selective on the upcoming projects... iiiii... sounds so cocky kan??!!

Since I've to literally 'divide' myself into several functional divisions now, one for my ailing dad, one for my career, another one for the loves of my life and of course that includes my Simply Chantique CupCakery. I hope you will understand ya... In the midst of me being very choosy, sedar tak sedar schedule for December is almost full! Aiyamakkkk.... not on my birthday I hope. No no no....

Anyway darls, this entry is especially dedicated for Shilla of Kepayan and the love of her life; Nasri. She had ordered;

~ 16pcs of chocolate moist cupcakes donned in red fondant deco apparently for one of the hantaran (gifts).
~ 80pcs of chocolate moist, vanilla & lemon cupcakes frosted in simple pink & purple buttercream. These were then packed in our dome packaging with personalized thank you tags and ribbons.

Thank you so much Shilla & congratulations on your engagement dear. So sorry for this very late update on your order. I am.. a self-confessed major procrastinator. Hehehe...
Pic courtesy of Shilla ~ Isn't she adorable!
 Kann..... :-)
