Anne is 30 today!

3 May 2012 ~ In support of the Pink Ribbon Foundation for breast cancer charity awareness program I am fully geared up to post this particular cake! Yeehaawwwwww!! Hehehe...

In KK itself we have a non-profit foundation supporting the movement; Kinabalu Pink Ribbon

Having lost my own father to brain cancer, it's an ongoing battle of physical & emotional levels alike. No words are worthy enough to describe the roller coaster journey, It's an eye opener, heart breaking yet awakening experience. One thing for sure, it has made us all closer than ever, and stronger. Come what may.

Okay now.. this entry has nothing to do with breast cancer whatsoever. Na'uzubillahminzalik.. it's just to sort of 'commemorate' the nature of the entry.

I recall there was this one incidence in which a fellow baker had updated her blog with her creation of a 'bra-cake' in conjunction with the Breast Cancer Awareness program which she took part in.

Oh my.. the readers were all over her discrediting her for being too 'western' in her approach. Now since when did breasts become westernized??

We are too characteristically defined by the typical predictably judgmental & shallow minded society. Things don't go their way} sinful! How easy it is for one to play God. But just when one of their clans did what was deemed by them as unworthy of a human being's deed before, the verdicts would be; "biarlah.. manusia biasa, mesti buat kesilapan," yada..yada.. yada... pfffhhhh..!

Too focused we've been in others' flaws that our own skeleton walks itself out of our own closet! .. and oh ya sparing the so called 'kids' nowadays may not be a good idea as well. They may be biologically young but they curse & flirt like a pro y'all! To make it worse, they think it's cool. When they get told off; ".. but I'm just 15th.." (insert cute duck face).

Now where was I.. hmm.. hehehe.. Thanks Jeffrey for the order. It was a carrot walnut cake with cream cheese frosting and the request was for a fondant purple bra as the deco. It came with a witty message as well.

I really hope Anne enjoyed the cake & the message that came with it. I'm pretty sure that I enjoyed making the cake, it's just that splurging myself on a good bra is much much easier than making one with sugarpaste.

After few failed attempts of goggle-bra, sunglasses-bra, rice bowls-bra.. boleh laaahhhh... hehehe...

So just to appease those sensitive souls who could foresee themselves freaking out to the sight of a 'bra cake', I've in a way administered some censorship to the photos. Bleghhh... Cheers!

From a psychoanalytic point of view, why not. Give it to 'em!

Happy 4th Birthday Ryan! ~ The Ever Angry Birds Cake

23 April 2012 ~ It gives me chill to still be updating for 2012 orders.. huhuhu.. err.. help?

It at times gives the wrong idea to readers that my entries are backdated. No no no.. the orders are but the updates are not.

Okay without further ado, here's Ryan's second cake. Tadaaaaaa!! Choc moist cake with fresh cream frosting and the adorable group of the ever grumpy angry birds. All edible!

The cake was then requested to be delivered to Ryan's playschool; Jolly Learners at Harrington road here in KK.

Ryan's mommy dearest, Edna was darling enough to share with us a pic of Ryan celebrating with his friends. Awww.. cute lil munchkins!

Now, modelling the birds out of sugarpaste was fun but very time consuming. Some customers just don't understand this grueling process that they start to question the price. What is the price for one's time, idea & energy put into a creation? I say} PRICELESS.

To me, every cake that bears our so called 'brand' is personalized. As I've been making it clear, it's not about the money. That's why I don't dare to bite off more than I can chew. I've been very lucky in the sense that most of my customers are returning ones. That only spells one thing} TRUST.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you for all your support. Thanks Edna for the order & again.. Happy Belated Birthday dear Ryan.

..and a special thanks goes to my beloved hubby for his utmost love & support. Thanks yang.. and it's his birthday today! Happy Birthday my love, my best friend, my hubby. You've been wonderful.

What?? Eating for two here.. :-)

Alhamdulillah.. can't say enough syukur. For every pain & frustration inflicted, comes happiness in abundant. I will always remember yang.. bersyukur with what little that we have & bersangka baik with Allah's ujian. No mere humans are entitled to judge us other than Allah the Creator. InsyaAllah.

Monthsary at Chili's

Once again, Happy Birthday sayang! Many more to come which we look forward to spending with you. Love you to the bone!

Happy 4th Birthday Ryan ~ Thomas & Friends Cake

21 April 2012 ~ Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh! Jawab.. tak jawab dosa. Hehehe.. actually.. actually.. I would like to yet again  apologize for my inconsistent updating. Pfffhhh... this one madam teacher (this is the 'title' bestowed upon me by my students, by the way) has been very very da' busy. Or so I think..tih..tih..

Syawal has just left us, Zulkaedah is here. How was your raya? I had a blast! Alhamdulillah.. literally; a blast, hehehe..

My twin cousins were darling enough to 'light up' our raya with their 4"x4" firecracker & insisted in blasting the thing off in the presence of this kak long of theirs. Bah bah bah.. dilayannn... we had to literally run around to find the right location to get the deed done. 'We' as in the whole household. All in the name of love & support yearrgghhh!! Hahaha.. frankly it was more like an attempt of avoiding the police. Syyhhh.... ekekeke...

Now these are the images we captured from our hotel room during the recent Malaysia Day celebration. NOT exactly what we had during raya but almost.. hehehe.. almost.. just to give you the idea what the police would have had witnessed as well. Should they. Hihihi...

We had tonnes of fun nevertheless & alhamdulillah all went well. Now this entry is dedicated to Edna Lunchi of Penampang. It's for her Ryan's 4th birthday. She had ordered two cakes & for cake numero uno it was two kilos of chocolate blueberry with freshcream frosting & topped with edible image of Thomas & friends.

I should have made the cake more colorful but the thing about fresh cream is, colors just don't pop up with it. Bakers would normally leave the color as it is; off white. Too much coloring will just ruin the taste.

Now this is one baker's task to explain to the customers. Lucky for me, Edna understood when I explained to her. Thank you so much dear, for your continuous support & Happy Belated Birthday dear Ryan!

Now back to our raya, Alhamdulillah.. a bit sombre when we visited dad's grave but otherwise it was surprisingly pleasant. It was hard.. but we pulled through. Everybody made it a point to celebrate raya at mom's. Could really feel the love & affection from everybody who had sacrificed their time & effort to be with us.

From the bottom of our hearts.. thank you.

Happy 9th Birthday Insyirah & Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri 1434H!

21 April 2012 ~ Yeah.. yeah.. I'm still updating on 2012 orders.. hihihihi.. my bad. Come on Tisya, it's almost Raya!! Haishh..

How time flies.. It feels just like it was yesterday we Muslims embarked on 1st day of Ramadhan and before you know it, raya is just around the corner.

It's gonna be one very special raya for us. As I mentioned before, it'll be our first without our beloved dad who passed away last January.

On the other hand, it'll also be our first raya as husband & wife, alhamdulillah. Blessing in disguise.

It's tradition for mom & me to prepare all the raya delicacies. Everybody seems to have their own fave menu. It's only fair that we prepare all. Hey! It's raya bah.. hehehe..

Ketupat & rendang have always been my fave & sis'. Mom & dad's is the satay. Lemang, sayur lodeh, chicken curry & serunding.. alamak.. Yummeyhhh!

Hokey. Where was I? Aha! Hahahaha.. my apology Eliyah. Come to think of it I should really have a separate blog laa... one for my biz & another for my yapping. Adeh.. parah!

Eliyah of Papar had ordered a Barbie cake for darling Insyirah's 9th birthday. The base & the barbie itself were all chocolate moist cakes with chocolate ganache.Well as usual, I got carried away with my butterflies & mushrooms in the 'garden' tih tih tih.. I hope Insyirah didn't mind.

Thank you so very much Eliyah & for the rest of you out there, I wish you Selamat Hari Raya, Maaf Zahir & Batin. Drive home safely. Toksah nak main bunga api & mercun please. Most importantly, enjoy & appreciate your upcoming raya in the presence of your love ones. I surely will. As my husband always says, be happy & bersyukur with what little that we have. To have each other is enough to make us the wealthiest. Well technically at least. Hihihihi...

Come one come all, you are all invited to our open house. Can't wish you enough; Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri dearies! Yeay! Hugs & kisses.

Suresh & Miranda ~ The Day They Said "I do"...

21 April 2012 ~ Don't you just love weddings?? Oh my.. it's almost magical to see how a bride can glow so much & looks extra gorgeous on her wedding day. Do you agree or do you agree?

As a guest, you may dress to kill on that day but funny, you never seem to be successful in overshadowing the bride! Hehehe.. come on, you've been there. It seems to be universally understood that we ladies tend to put extra effort in dressing up for weddings. It must be the positive vibe that a wedding has.. and the love & beauty that surround it. CONTAGIOUS!

Despite all that, there's one thing that irks me much. The so-called "Wedding Crashers" and yes I capitalized each word to show how extremely irritating & nerve wracking these 'guests' are. To the point that it gets under your skin bah!

So how do you identify them? The actions don't have to be overtly done. These are some of their characteristics;

~ They came, the saw, they conquered } THE FOOD
Not forgetting the door gifts! Hahaha..!! Need I
             say more? Looks familiar?
~ The moment they enter, they eye the crowd like
a hawk. They don't wait long to catch up on
latest gossips; past, present & future.
~ No body seems to know or recognize them. They
claim that they are friends of the bride or
groom or even family members of either.
Haishhh... ini macam pun ada ka?? ADA!
~ .. and the most heinous would be to criticize the
bride & groom & the event itself.
Makanan tak sedaplah, make up tak lawa lah
pelamin tak grand lah, bride & groom tak
             padanlah..The list goes on. Really??
             Do you have to??

I mean, sampainya hati. You're invited with all good intentions and then you return the favor in the most undesirable ways one can think of. Tak baik tau.. Make it simple. Attend, share the happiness, pray for the bride & groom then leave in peace. Kan lebih indah macam tu..

I just have to share the wedding pics of this handsome couple; Miranda & Suresh. Can you see just how lovely they are together? I've been waiting for this moment for more than a year. LITERALLY! Hehehe..

..and let me tell you this, frankly speaking Miranda is one gorgeous lady even without the make up. I had the chance to meet the lovely couple to discuss their order. Bless the photographer for being so lucky not having to spend too much time in editing & photoshop.

It reminds me of a friend, who recently had the shock of his life upon meeting this one lady, who looked so 'flawless' on photos. Yet, in person.. well.. I'm sure you can tell what happened next. That's the magic of Camera360 app, if you must know.. hehehe.. it gets rid all the 'unwanted' nooks & crannies on one's face thus appearing to look superficially luminescent. No no no.. jangan bagi orang tergezut!

Oh my, my husband would be very delighted to read this one long entry. He's been saying that my entries are getting shorter lately hehehe... So this is for you honey! Read on beybeh hehehe..

I was honored to be chosen by Miranda & Suresh to prepare the door gifts for their wedding in the forms of 600pcs of vanilla & chocolate butter fancy cookies. All heart shaped. Thank you so very much!

From the bottom of my heart, I would like to congratulate Miranda & Suresh on their wedding even though it's been more than a year now. Hihihi.. my sincerest apology on this.

Okay enough yapping. Save energy please as one of the joys in fasting is the anticipation of iftar or sungkai as we Sabahans call it; the breaking of fast. Nothing beats home cooked meals for that matter. Til then take care lovelies! Hugs & kisses.

I just have to share with you my latest finding. A seemingly harmless pink stiletto y'all! Zip it, or forever be sealed!
